PICKAWAY TOWNSHIP – A possible medical condition is suspected as the cause of a one-vehicle crash Saturday on Kingston Pike near Pickaway Elementary School.

Paul D. Rine, 68, of Circleville, was transported to Berger Hospital for treatment of reportedly minor injuries following the crash that occurred about 11:28 a.m.

According to reports, Rine was traveling southbound on Kingston Pike in a 2011 GMC when he went off the right side of the roadway, striking a utility pole.

The vehicle caught fire, but the flames were quickly extinguished by crews from the Pickaway Township Fire Department.

Crews from South Central Power Company arrived about one hour later to repair the utility pole damaged in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
