CIRCLEVILLE – A local woman was arrested Tuesday in an alleged murder-for-hire plot, according to Sheriff Robert Radcliff.

Tara J. Lambert, 32, of Circleville, was taken into custody about 6 p.m. outside of Walmart on South Court Street and charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

Radcliff said his office received information that Lambert was attempting to hire someone to murder a female from Scioto County.

The person she attempted to hire, Radcliff said, was actually a Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy who was brought in and introduced to Lambert through the undercover investigation that followed the tip.

The undercover deputy met with Lambert late Tuesday afternoon in the south business district off of U.S. Route 23 in Circleville, where Radcliff said plans were finalized, and money and a photograph of the intended victim were exchanged.

She is being held in the Pickaway County Jail on $500,000 bond.

The incident remains under investigation by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office.
