Ned P. Ogle

Ned Peart Ogle, 83, of Mt. Sterling, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on July 17, 2015, at Mill Run Garden and Care Center, Hilliard.

He was the devoted husband to surviving wife, Martha (Norris) Ogle, for 39 years.

Ned was born on Dec. 5, 1931, in Williamsport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren and Dorothy (Peart) Ogle; and brother, Robert (Pat) Ogle.

He is survived by sister, Wanda (Ken) Higgins. Ned was also proceeded in death by wife, Doris (Lahrmer) Ogle, in 1972. Together, they have three surviving children, Julie (John) Smrtnik, grandchildren Ethan, Evan and Seth, Charlie (Donna) Ogle, grandchildren Nathaniel, Natalie and Abigail, Debbie Ogle (Sam Dunlap) and grandchildren Izzy and Ian.

Ned was proud to have served in the United States Army and continued his military support as a long-time member of the Mt. Sterling American Legion, Post 417.

Ned was a hard worker throughout his life. He was a life-long farmer, while simultaneously being employed by either DuPont Corp., Versa Corp. or Canteen Corp., at the Deer Creek State Park Lodge.

Ned enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, gardening, woodworking, and cooking. Those who knew him will remember his smile, laugh and sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by those he laughed with, lived for and loved.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, 331 W. Main St., Mt. Sterling. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2015, at the funeral home, with Rev. Dortha Ross, associate pastor of the Mt. Sterling First Church of the Nazarene, officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Cemetery, Mt. Sterling.
