George Robert Goodfleisch, 77, of Columbus, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015, surrounded by his family.

He was born on March 20, 1938, in Columbus, to the late Robert Goodfleisch and the late Augustina Margaret Bova.

He retired after 23 years for CSX as a railroad supervisor and was also owner-operator with FedEx Ground for 12 years. George was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was a graduate of Linden McKinley High School.

He liked boating, racing, camping and going to Lake Cumberland, Kentucky. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Hale; as well as his parents and grandparents.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carole F. (Kelley) Goodfleisch; children, Bryan (Lynn) Goodfleisch of Ashville, Lisa (Ronald) Myers of Caldwell, Mark (Dawn) Goodfleisch of Galloway and Karen (Eric) Thompson of Sugar Grove; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Robert (Pam) Goodfleisch of Dublin, Michael (Bobbie) Goodfleisch of Pickerington and Jan Hale of Knoxville, Tennessee; sister, Marcy Goodfleisch of Austin, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2015, in Good Shepherd Community Church, 210 Obetz Rd., Columbus, followed by a service at 11 a.m. with Pastor Gary Kirk officiating. Interment will follow in Harrison Township Cemetery, South Bloomfield. Arrangements by Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, Ashville.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions be made to Good Shepherd Community Church, 210 Obetz Rd., Columbus, OH 43207.
