Carl Christian Schein, 87, of Williamsport, passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2015.

He was born on Dec. 13, 1927, in Monroe Township, to George and Hannah (Robison) Schein.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma (Hulse) Schein; and brother, Harold Schein.

Carl was Valedictorian of the 1945 graduating class of Williamsport High School and attended The Ohio State University. He was a member, past trustee and Sunday School teacher at Williamsport United Methodist Church. He served as a Deercreek Township Trustee for 20 years and a Pickaway County Commissioner for eight years. He was a founding member of Westfall Booster Club, a member of Heber Lodge 501 F&AM, a 2001 inductee of Ohio Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, past president of Farm Bureau and a member of Ohio and Pickaway County Cattleman’s Association.

Carl had a great sense of humor, was one of original Dry Run Gophers and was a great lover of animals, his church and his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Carl is survived by sons, Chris (Janet), Mark (Toni) and John Schein; daughter, Jane Schein (Bruce) Willmore; six grandchildren, Heather Schein, Andrea (Mike) Williams, Traci (Wyatt) Wilson, George (Joe Breen) Schein, John and Joe Long; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Paul Schein; special friend, Margaret Cook; good neighbors, Johnny and Susie Dunlap and Gene Schleich; and his canine companions, Otis and Burt.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2015, at Williamsport United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Dowson officiating. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville.
