Carolyn S. Clark, 71, of Circleville, passed away peacefully June 29, 2015, at Kobacker House in Columbus.
She was born Aug. 27, 1943, in Circleville, the daughter of Ed and Mildred (Halfhill) Smith.
Carolyn was a graduate of the Circleville High School Class of 1962 and was a member of the Presbyterian Church, where she taught the preschool class for many years. She worked for the Pickaway County Chamber of Commerce and retired from Circleville City Schools. She was a huge fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Carolyn was sweet, loving and completely devoted to her family. Her grandkids were her world.
She was preceded in death by her son, Eric M. Clark, in 2009; her birth parents; her beloved foster parents, Emma and Charles Essick; sister, Phyllis Weiss; and sister-in-law, Diane Smith.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Michael E. Clark; her children, Charles (Stephanie) Clark of Pickerington and Emily (Al) Kershaw of Circleville; daughter-in-law, Tami Clark of Circleville; grandchildren, Brayden Kershaw, Mac, Graham, Grace, Maddy, Olivia and Michael Clark; sisters, Sondra Klontz and Patty Eitel; brothers, James Smith and Robert (Elaine) Smith; sister-in-law, Lou Ann Clark; brothers-in-law, Howard J. “Jim” Clark, Jr. and Jack L. (Barbara) Clark; special friends, Diana and Woody Jones; and special canine companion, Sam2.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at the Presbyterian Church, 134 E. Mound St., Circleville, with Pastors Jeri-Lynne Bouterse and Troy Braswell officiating. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home, Circleville.
