CIRCLEVILLE – What started as a report of a suspicious vehicle ended with the arrest of two people early Monday morning on drug and weapons charges on West Mill Street.

Mollie Gerber, 30, of Powell, and Jonte Jack, 33, of Columbus, are charged with trafficking in drugs, receiving stolen property, improper transport of a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of cocaine and possession of heroin. After the discovery that Jack is a convicted felon, he also was charged with having weapons under disability.

According to Circleville Police reports, Officer Robert Morningstar stopped the reported suspicious vehicle for a traffic violation about 12:30 a.m. Monday and noticed drug paraphernalia in plain view from outside the vehicle.

As they arrived on the scene, Sgt. Matthew Hafey and officers Timothy Myers and Joe Popson assisted with a search of the vehicle that also recovered black tar heroin and crack cocaine, a large sum of cash and two loaded semi-automatic pistols.

One of the weapons, Hafey said, had been reported as stolen from Athens County.

He said both of the subjects were arraigned on the charges Monday in Circleville Municipal Court. They currently remain in the Pickaway County Jail.
