CIRCLEVILLE – A pretrial hearing has been set for the man accused of murdering a teenager in Ashville last month.

Justin R. Blevins, 19, of Hagerty Road, Ashville, was indicted July 7 by the Pickaway County Grand Jury on charges of aggravated murder, murder and felonious assault in the shooting death of Samuel L. Nicholson II in the early morning hours of June 11 on Jefferson Avenue.

Blevins pleaded not guilty to the charges Wednesday in Pickaway County Common Pleas Court, and a pretrial hearing has been set for Aug. 11.

The shooting occurred about 5:30 a.m. in Apartment B at 212 Jefferson Ave., Ashville, according to reports. Nicholson was shot to death, and another man was reportedly assaulted as the suspect fled the scene.

Chief Doug Clark, Ashville Police Department, said Blevins had been the prime suspect since early in the investigation. He was apprehended June 13 when he arrived at the office of attorney James Kingsley in Circleville and was taken into custody without incident.

Blevins remains in the Pickaway County Jail as his case proceeds.
