Russell H. Boley Jr.

Russell H. Boley Jr., 73, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2017, at his residence, with his best friend and beloved wife, Belinda, by his side.

He was born Nov. 5, 1943, in Lancaster, the oldest child of Russell H. and Mary Jenna Lee Boley Sr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter.

Russ was a 1962 graduate of Rushcreek Memorial High School in Bremen, earned his B.S. degree from The Ohio State University and his M.S. degree from Ashland University.

He served his country in the Army from 1965-1967 and was stationed for a year in Vietnam.

Russ began his 32-year teaching career at Pickaway-Ross Career & Technology Center, first as an agricultural diesel mechanic instructor and then later as a diesel and industrial mechanic instructor. He retired in 2002.

Russ was a FFA Advisor for 32 years, and a member of the Buckeye Central Scenic Railroad for 22 years, serving as President for two years.

He was happiest when he was with his family on his farm, taking care of the animals, being outdoors and eating a good steak followed by a piece of apple pie for dessert. He loved antique tractors and everything about railroads. He enjoyed going to auctions to hunt for antique farm equipment, talking to people, watching Fox News and listening to Talk Radio.

Russ leaves to mourn his passing his loving family: his wife of 47 years, Belinda Sue (Ricketts) Boley; son, Rusty (Kathy) Boley of Circleville; daughter, Jenna (Philip) D’Amore of Durham, North Carolina; grandsons, Scott and Nick Greeno and Chase Alexander; two sisters, Barbara (Cecil) Parrish of Louisville, Kentucky, and Cindi Cordle of Logan; three brothers, Thomas Boley of Sarasota, Florida, Mike (Lavonda) Boley of Logan and James Boley of Lancaster; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Russell’s funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017, at Defenbaugh-Wise-Schoedinger Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Vandagriff officiating. Burial will be in Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi, with military service provided by AMVETS Post 2256 Honor Guard. Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, June 4, 2017, at the funeral home.
