William G. Winter

William G. “Bill” Winter, age 81, of Ashville, passed away Monday, April 17, 2017, at Berger Hospital, Circleville.

He was born Jan. 7, 1936, in Circleville, to the late Charles and Glenna (Runkle) Winter.

Bill graduated from Walnut Township High School in 1954 and attended Ohio State University.

He had worked for Pickaway County ODOT for over 23 years and was a lifelong farmer.

Bill was a member of the Marcy Trinity Lutheran Church, a former member of the Teays Valley School Board and had volunteered as a 4-H adviser. He was active in the Ashville Heritage Society, Knights of Pythias 513, American Farmer, and enjoyed the monthly ODOT breakfast group.

Bill is survived by his wife of 24 years, Suetta (Stiltner) Winter; children, Robert Charles Winter of Amanda, Carol Elaine (Paul) Johnson of Ashville and James Lewis (Sharon) Winter of Ashville; sister, Marilyn (Rojer) Bowers of Circleville; grandchildren, Samantha Johnson, Christina Winter and Caroline Winter, all of Ashville; brother-in-law, Leo (Sharon) Stiltner of Virginia; sister-in-law, Frances Newcomb of Virginia; nephews, Charles, Timothy and Brent Bowers; niece, Rojanne Woodward; as well as many special friends at the museum.

He was preceded by nephew, Gary Bowers.

The family will received friends from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday April 21, 2017, at the Oliver-Cheek Funeral Home, 420 W. Main St., Ashville. The funeral service was held at the funeral home at 1 p.m with Pastor Ben Nichols officiating. Interment followed at Reber Hill Cemetery.

The family request in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to The Ashville Heritage Society, 34 Long St., Ashville, OH 43103.
