Mavis C. Adkins, 95, formerly of Circleville, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2017, at Crestview Manor.

She was born Oct. 17, 1921, in Bickmore, West Virginia, and was the daughter of the late Clark E. and Verne M. Neal.

Mavis was a cook and waitress at several local restaurants over the years. She started in the mid-60s at the Viking Dairy Bar in Ashville and later finished at Well’s Restaurant in Circleville.

Mavis is survived by her children, Janice McCombs of LaGrange, Larry (Carol) Adkins of Circleville, Susan Dulin of Alabama, Shirley Evans of Amanda and Johnny (Juanita) Adkins of Circleville; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Phillips; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mavis was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Macel Adkins; son, Larry Dale Adkins; grandson, Larry Michael Adkins; son-in-law, Gary Evans; one brother; and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Taylor Funeral Home in Amanda, with burial to follow in Amanda Twp. Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
