Garnett Mae Taylor, 87, of Chillicothe, passed away Sunday night, March 26, 2017, at National Church Residences in Chillicothe, following a brief illness.

She was born Sept. 26, 1929, in Chillicothe, to the late Noah C. and Alice M. Fellenstein.

On Sept. 16, 1950, she married Evan Roy Taylor, who preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 1984.

Garnett is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Rex E. (Janet) Taylor of Whitney, Texas; two grandchildren, Amanda M. Taylor of Whitney, Texas, and Chad A. Boggs of Chillicothe; two great-grandchildren, Quentina A. and Taylor E. Boggs, both of Chillicothe; her siblings, Lida K. Meadows of Kingston, Kay L. Large of Kingston and Anna L. Swackhammer of Williamsport; and two sisters-in-law, Suzzane Fellenstein of Williamsport and Joan Taylor of Circleville.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Deborah K. (Tom) Boggs; a brother, Noah E. Fellenstein; her mother and father-in-law, Claude C. (Lorena C.) Taylor; and four brothers-in-law, William Meadows, Leroy Swackhammer, Larry Large and Claude Taylor Jr.

Garnett was a graduate of Kingston Union High School, class of 1947. She went on to work as the deputy auditor in Ross County until her retirement in 1986.

She was a lifetime member of Springbank United Methodist Church and was a member of the United Methodist Women’s Group. She worked for many years with the Board of Elections and was also a poll worker.

In her spare time, Garnett loved to go fishing and camping. She enjoyed singing, playing the piano and especially loved to take care of others.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017, at the Springbank Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Wade officiating. Burial will follow in Springbank Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 30, 2017, at the Haller Funeral Home, Chillicothe.
