Lawrence Rothe

Lawrence “Larry” Rothe, age 80, passed away peacefully in the presence of his family on March 23, 2017.

He was born in Columbus to his parents, Charles and Laura May Rothe, on Sept. 30, 1936.

Larry graduated from South High School in Columbus. He would later meet the love of his life, Sonna “Dean” Rothe, and they got married on Dec. 24, 1956, and enjoyed 60 years of wonderful marriage.

Larry was a hardworking man, as he was co-owner and manager of the LaMay Truck Stop from 1954 to 1973. He and his wife also owned Ridgewood Mobile Home Park in Chillicothe.

Larry loved to go boating and the outdoors, but above all he loved his family. He was a hardworking man who will be missed by all.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; five siblings; his sons, Mark Rothe, Bruce Rothe, Scott Rothe and Greg Rothe; and his granddaughter, Laura.

Left to mourn his passing is his loving wife, Sonna Rothe; his son, Jeffrey (Lanae) Rothe; and his grandchildren, Michael (Melissa) Rothe , Shonda (J.C.) Garcia, Scotty Rothe, Jacob (Shanna) Rothe, Amber Rothe, Kristopher (Stacey) Rothe and Mark Rothe. Also in mourning are 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1918 N. Bridge St., Chillicothe. A funeral service will be held for Larry at noon Monday, March 27, 2017, at the church with Bishop Doug Brower and Gary Madden officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Cemetery.
