Three named to dean’s list at University of Findlay

The dean’s list for the fall 2016 semester at the University of Findlay includes local students Matthew Allen of Circleville, Hannah Chipps of Orient and Neal Davis of Ashville.

To earn this achievement, a student must attain a grade point average of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale.


Kuhlwein member of Ashland University women’s basketball team

Baylee Kuhlwein of Ashville is a member of the undefeated Ashland University Eagles Women’s Basketball team, which has been ranked No. 1 for 10 consecutive NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Top 25 Coaches’ Polls.

Kuhlwein, a freshman, is a guard for the Eagles.

The Eagles concluded their historic regular season with a win Thursday, Feb. 23, giving the Lady Eagles a perfect 28-0 regular season and the first 20-0 conference regular season in the history of AU as well as the history of GLIAC women’s basketball. The Eagles hosted GLIAC Tournament play beginning on Feb. 28, and the GLIAC Final Four was held on March 4-5. The Midwest Regional Quarterfinal play began on March 10.

Kuhlwein is majoring in exercise science and is a 2016 graduate of Teays Valley High School.

The Ashland University women’s basketball team competes in NCAA Division II in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and is led by head coach Robin Fralick. She earned both GLIAC and Columbus Dispatch Ohio Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year awards in 2015-16. Fralick has recently set an unofficial NCAA Division II women’s basketball record for consecutive wins to start a head coaching career.

The Eagles finished 22nd in the nation in the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Division II poll for the 2014-15 season, ending with an impressive 25-9 overall record. McDonald named to honors list at Fairleigh Dickinson University

Evan McDonald of Circleville, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck, New Jersey, has been named to the honors list for the fall 2016 semester.

To qualify for the honor’s list, a student must carry a 3.5 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).
