The Westfall Education Foundation recently presented a grant for $1,800 to help fund new equipment for the Westfall Elementary School news team.

WESN, the news team of fifth-grade students at the elementary school, broadcasts throughout the school daily updating students and staff with pertinent news and information.

The grant will be used to purchase new video equipment for the team, which is advised by teacher Jackie Eitel.

Eitel first formed a news team 12 years ago, according to the Westfall Education Foundation, and it has been operating continuously in the elementary school for several years. A different news team is chosen each semester from fifth-graders at the school.

Eitel said the team has been using the same equipment to broadcast news since 2004, and they are pleased to be working with up-to-date technology. She said the team expressed their thanks to the foundation to acquire the much-needed video equipment.
