Staff Reports

The following cases recently were heard by Judge P. Randall Knece in Pickaway County Common Pleas Court:

– Tommy E. Barnhart, 31, of Moccasin Road, Laurelville, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin. He was sentenced to 12 months in state prison.

– Derrica M. Brewer, 29, of Columbus, pleaded guilty to illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a governmental facility. She was sentenced to 30 months in state prison (suspended), three years of community control, 30 days in the county jail and six months in a community-based correctional facility program.

– Joshua M. Conrad, 35, of Pleasant Street, Tarlton, pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property. He was sentenced to 16 months in state prison. Conrad is currently awaiting trial in Hocking County on charges of aggravated murder and aggravated robbery in the Sept. 1, 2016, death of Gary G. Stevens during an alleged home invasion near Laurelville. More information on that case can be found on the Columbus Dispatch website.

– Danesha L.N. Hayes, 19, of Whitehall, pleaded not guilty to deception to obtain a dangerous drug and forgery. A pretrial hearing is set for Feb. 10.

– Megan E. Jenkins, 30, of Grove City, pleaded not guilty to two counts of grand theft. A pretrial hearing is set for Feb. 10.

– Chao Jolly, 24, of Columbus, pleaded guilty to a violation of community control. He was sentenced to 11 months in state prison.

– Rodney A. Jones, 20, of Chillicothe, pleaded not guilty to aggravated possession of drugs. A pretrial hearing is set for Feb. 10.

– Adam D. Kaplin, 51, of Columbus, pleaded guilty to possession of heroin. He was sentenced to three years of intervention, 30 days in the county jail and six months at a community-based correctional facility program.

– Michael D. Linek, 17, an inmate at the Pickaway County Jail, pleaded guilty to robbery. He will be sentenced following a pre-sentence investigation by the court.

– Mark A. Melott, 28, of North Sugar Street, Circleville, pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a governmental facility. A pretrial hearing is set for Feb. 10.

– Larry D. Newland, 41, an inmate at the Correctional Reception Center, Orient, pleaded guilty to two counts of theft. He was sentenced to seven months in state prison.

– Scott R. Searles, 56, of Lansing, Michigan, pleaded not guilty to aggravated possession of drugs and possession of drugs. A pretrial hearing is set for Feb. 10.

– Dustin Sutton, 30, of East Ohio Street, Circleville, pleaded guilty to non-support of dependents. He was sentenced to 18 months in state prison (suspended), three years of community control and 30 days in the county jail.
