Marcella Joan Hart, 85, of Chillicothe, died 8:40 p.m. Jan. 11, 2017, at Westmoreland Place Nursing Home, following a brief battle with Leukemia.

She was born Oct. 14, 1931, in Ironton, to the late Clark and Thelma Pyles Moreland.

On Feb. 7, 1952, she married James Edward Hart, who died April 15, 2004.

Survivors include two daughters, Ellen (Rick) Hayes of Chillicothe and Lisa (Dan) Shwartz of Belton, Missouri; a son, John Hart of Columbus; five grandchildren, Charles DeLong, Amanda Via, David (Mariah) and Clayton Smith; two great-grandchildren, Mason DeLong and Alex Via; two sisters, Rosemary Graves of Chillicothe and Sandra (Steve) Patronsky of Orient; sister-in-law, Mickey Moreland of Chillicothe; and step-brothers, Gene (Carolyn) and Jim Bryan.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Moreland; and her step-mother, Alice Moreland.

Joan attended the Restoration Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She worked for the US Shoe Company, where she was awarded Miss Gold Cross Shoe, and for the Mead Paper Company.

She was an OSU Buckeye fan and enjoyed bingo and crocheting. She was a majorette in the CHS Class of 1949.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at the Haller Funeral Home & Crematory, Chillicothe. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. Friends may call 2 to 4 pm Sunday at Haller’s.
