Officials and YMCA members gathered Sept. 14 to dedicate the new “adventure” playground at the Pickaway County Family YMCA.

The “adventure” playground has been in the works for two years, according to Jeff Phillips, executive director, and is possible because of grants from PNC Bank and the Pickaway County Community Foundation. The project also was made possible by funds awarded through local efforts with the Step-Up To Quality program, he said.

The play elements in the space, including over-sized percussion instruments, a tricycle path, playhouse and water feature, represent the first phase of the effort, Phillips said. Plans are to also include a Gaga Pit and a Bouldering Wall, among others.
