Police investigate 4th of July shooting

CIRCLEVILLE – City police are investigating a shooting incident in the area of 302 E. Main St. on Monday night.

According to reports, the Circleville Police Department and Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office received multiple 911 calls reporting gun shots in the area about 11:04 p.m. Monday.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered several people had been involved in a verbal altercation that turned physical.

During the physical altercation, one person reportedly fired a handgun at another.

The victim, who has not yet been identified, was transported to Berger Hospital for treatment of what Chief Shawn Baer believed were non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators are still working to identify the person who reportedly fired the handgun.
