Harry M. Waites

Harry M. Waites, the “Dime and Ring Man,” 81, of Chillicothe, went to be with the Lord at 7:12 p.m. Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Heartland of Chillicothe following an extended illness.

He was born June 11, 1934, in Circleville, to the late Henton M. and Mary F. (Wine) Waites.

On June 3, 1983, he married the former Zelda D. Oliver, who survives.

Also surviving are four children, Roxanna Imes of Circleville, Mark (Donna) Waites of Upper Arlington, Miriam (Jeff) Scudder and Amy (Jerry) Isaac, all of Circleville; grandchildren, Jennifer, Mark, Megan, Christopher, Elizabeth, Jonathan and Benjamin; great-grandchildren, Makaila, Micah and Bryce; five step-children; many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Hinton Waites of Ashville.

He was predeceased by a sister, Hazel Waites; granddaughter, Katherine Ketcham; and son-in-law, Fred Imes.

Harry was retired from DuPont, where he worked as a welder. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church on Clinton Road and volunteered at Adena Regional Medical Center, where he was also a valet. He was a Red Coat at OSU football and a Sunday school teacher for many years. He went on 10 mission trips all over the world.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Lighthouse Baptist Church on Clinton Road, Chillicothe, with Pastor Ryan Bevan officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Cemetery, Circleville. Friends may call one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Baptist Church Mission Fund, 341 Clinton Rd., Chillicothe; or the Ross County Senior Citizens Center, 1824 Western Ave., Chillicothe, OH 45601.
