CIRCLEVILLE – Following the success of an opiate addiction forum in December, the Circleville Probation Department will host a second event at 6 p.m. April 19 at the Circleville Municipal Court.

The follow-up session will provide information about current resources available for families affected by opiate addiction, and speakers will include family members of those who have lost their battle with addiction.

“Our first forum presented information about addiction and current strategies in place to combat the problem,” said Jason McGowan, chief probation officer. “We collected feedback from that meeting and determined that our county lacked support resources for families that have been affected by addiction.”

McGowan said the probation department has reached out to various organizations that can provide those resources, and they will be a part of the upcoming forum in April.

McGowan said any community member is welcome, whether they are personally affected by the epidemic or just interested in participating in a solution. A question-and-answer session also will be a part of the event.

For questions or more information, McGowan can be reached by email at [email protected] or by phone at 740-477-9824.
