The Teays Valley Educational Foundation recently awarded a $4,000 grant to the Teays Valley Local School District to fund the D.A.R.E. program at the TV elementary and middle schools.

D.A.R.E. is a series of classroom lessons that teach students how to resist peer pressure and live productive drug and violence-free lives. It is led by Deputy Dale Thomas.

The fifth grade students at all of the TV elementary schools recently completed the D.A.R.E. program and took part in a graduation ceremony, which was conducted by Deputy Thomas and Pickaway County Sheriff Robert B. Radcliff.

“The D.A.R.E. program is extremely beneficial for all of our students,” said Kyle Wolfe, assistant superintendent. “Deputy Thomas has a great relationship with both the students and teachers. The lessons he shares with our students positively impact their decision making. The district is grateful to the TV Educational Foundation for funding the D.A.R.E. program in the Teays Valley schools.”

“This is one of the biggest grants we give each year,” said Spencer Cheek, Foundation president. “We are thrilled to know that the students of Teays Valley get the opportunity to take part in this wonderful program because of our grant. It is our goal that the grants we give have a positive impact on the district and the students and this program definitely does just that.”
