Patrick Keith Williams, age 57, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday morning, Dec. 12, 2015, at the William W. Backus Hospital, Norwich, Connecticut.

Born in Medina, he was the son of the late Marvin E. Williams and Vangie L. Williams, who currently resides in Cincinnati.

He graduated from Logan Elm High School in 1976 and enlisted in the US Coast Guard. While serving in the Coast Guard, he was awarded the Expert Rifleman Medal and the Pistol Sharpshooter Ribbon. He was awarded the Coast Guard Good Conduct Medal three times and two Coast Guard Meritorious Unit Commendations with the “O”, Operational Distinguishing Device. The first CGMUC was awarded for fighting a fire while on-board ship during a Bering Sea patrol. The second CGMUC was awarded for action taken during a search and rescue mission on Lake Erie. He was also awarded the Coast Guard Sea Service Ribbon for two years of service on the Bering Sea patrol.

He served in the Coast Guard for 11 years and attained the rank of Machinery Technician Chief Petty Officer (MKC). At the time of his promotion to Chief, he was considered one of the youngest Chief Petty Officers in the Coast Guard at age 26.

Upon completion of his enlistment, Pat was employed as a boiler plant operator in the Coast Guard Academy’s Public Works Division. In 2002, he was promoted to supervisor and in 2005 he transferred to the Mechanical Shop in the Public Works Division. He remained there until his retirement in 2014.

Pat was particularly proud of his daughters who both chose a career in nursing. He admired their academic and musical talents. He enjoyed entertaining his daughters and their friends when they would come over to visit.

Pat was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and a military history enthusiast. He loved his dogs and will be greatly missed by them.

Patrick is survived by daughters, Lyndsay and Alina Williams, and their mother, Marilyn (List) Williams, his wife of 30 years, all of Uncasville; brother, Mike Williams (Ruth) of Kokomo, Indiana; sister, Kim Stegeman (Jim) of Cincinnati; mother-in-law, Jo Ann Leatherwood of Circleville; sisters-in-law, Susan Markel of Columbus and Judith (Mark) Sweeney of Cincinnati; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, at the Heritage Church of the Nazarene, 2264 Walnut Creek Pike, Circleville.
