Harold Eugene Houser, age 96, of Mt. Sterling, died Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2015, at Four Seasons of Washington Court House.

He was born Dec. 11, 1919, in Pickaway County.

Harold was a life-long resident of Mt. Sterling and a local area businessman for more than 50 years. He loved music and loved playing in churches locally. Music was a passion, along with the love of his family, and he also enjoyed fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gardner Houser and Nellie (Bennett) Houser; loving wife of 60 years, Sarah Jane (Webb) Houser; son, Vernon Houser; daughter, Janet Louise (Houser) Tadlock; grandsons, Randall and Jefferey Nagle; brothers, Walter “Bud”, Warner, Raymond, Charles and William; and sisters, Rowena and Francis.

He is survived by sons, Paul “Sonny” Houser and wife Elizabeth (Stage) of New Smyrna Beach, Florida and Pearl Houser of Chillicothe; daughter-in-law, Linda Houser; 17 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank his caregivers over the last few years, Michelle Follrod and Daniel Houser.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at the Porter-Tidd Funeral Home, Mt. Sterling, Rev. Dortha Ross officiating, with the interment following in Pleasant Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 20.
