Maria A. Holbrook

Maria Ann Holbrook, 56, of Laurelville, died on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2015, in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her family.

Maria was born on Aug. 4, 1959, in Columbus. She was born the daughter of the late Bill and Louise Reynolds and her adopted parents, Rev. Elmer and Glenna Barnhart.

She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Doug Holbrook; daughters, Stephanie Rouse (Kyle Bush) of Logan and Katie (Josh) Langley of Laurelville; grandchildren, whom she loved with all of her heart, Meghan Rouse (16), Carter Langley (10) and Lily Bush (8 mos); and sister, Linda (IKE) Sayer of Huntington, West Virginia.

Maria loved spending time with her friends and family and attending sporting events of her grandchildren where she continues to be an avid Pioneer fan. She was an amazing crafter as she enjoyed quilting, crocheting, cross stitching and painting. She also enjoyed listening to gospel music and reading.

After raising her girls, she decided to return to school where she studied to be a licensed practical nurse and practiced for several years before falling ill.

Maria had requested special thanks to be given to her in-laws, Dave and Ellen Moyer, for all they did for her and Doug throughout the years, and her sister-in-law, Melea Holbrook, whom she referred to as her “Angel on Earth,” as she was there to help at any time and in any way. This act of kindness was such a blessing and will forever be cherished.

The family would like to thank National Church Residence Hospice for their help.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at the Hill Funeral Home, Kingston, with Rev. Elder Donald Hager and Shane Browning officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hill’s.

Condolences can be made on Maria’s online guest registry at www.hillfhkingston.com.
