Lowell Eugene Disbennett, 88, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, with family by his side.

Lowell was born on Nov. 25, 1926, in Laurelville, to Cora M. “Mildred” and Berman “Joe” Disbennett.

Lowell graduated in 1944 from Laurelville-Perry High School and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Lowell was a humble, hardworking man who lived most of his life in Laurelville. He worked as a delivery driver for Lazarus Department Store until his retirement. He loved his family and his home and, until his very last days, wanted to go back to his home “up on the hill” in Laurelville.

Lowell is survived by his daughter, Susan (David) Downey; son, Joe Disbennett; grandson, Michael (Carrie) Downey; granddaughter, Emily (Michael) Sabula; great-grandsons, Seth and Luke Sabula; great-granddaughter, Cora Downey; his sisters, Arlene Hunt and Ethel Grooms; his brother, Doyle (Pat) Disbennett; and extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601; or to a charity of your choice. You may also do a random act of kindness in Lowell’s memory.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, 2015, at the Wellman Funeral Home, 16451 State Route 56 East, Laurelville, followed by a family graveside service and burial at Green Summit Cemetery, Adelphi.
