James Michael “Mike” Sims, 62, of Kingston, passed unexpectedly from this life on Nov. 8, 2015 at the Adena Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 1, 1953, the son of the late James and Alice Sims. Mike was also preceded in death by a nephew, Timothy Smith.

Mike was a 27-year employee of the Reynolds Plant in Ashville.

Mike is survived by his sisters, Sharon Dailey of Kingston, with whom he lived, and Karen Stalder of Circleville; nieces and nephews, including Sharon’s children, Sheri Bee (Andrea Pettit), Bobby (Miranda) Dailey, Pam (Brett) Tatman, and Tami (Rodney) Wiget, and Karen’s children, Shawn (Mike) Tatman, David Raines, Dawn Sowers and Jason Grove, and April (Jason) Wilson; several special great nieces and nephews; one special great-great niece, Alexcis Barrows, who loved getting chocolate from her Uncle Mike; cousin, Jane (Wally) Bowman; and family friend, Debbie Woods. We would like to mention Mike’s “second family” at the King’s Inn in Kingston that he spoke fondly of, and his very dear friend, Chuck Congrove.

A special thanks to Mike’s nieces, Kayleigh Tatman and Jordyn McCullough, and to the Adena Regional Medical Center staff who assisted Mike that day. Mike was able to help others by being an Organ Donor. Someone will get the gift of sight as well as bone marrow and tissue. Mike will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, 2015, at the Hill Funeral Home, Kingston, with Rev. Barry Bennett officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from noon until the time of the service on Friday at Hill’s.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Hill Funeral Home to aid the family.

Condolences can be made on Mike’s online guest registry at hillfhkingston.com.
