PIKE – Deputy Bob Barbee Pike County successfully chased down a car thief in Pike County after noticing a stolen truck while on patrol.
Police were already aware to look for James Howes, as many citizens had complained about him being on their property and knocking on doors earlier in the day. One citizen said that he tried to get her to stop while on 551.
The police chase in the video is a short one, once Bob Barbee noticed the stolen truck from a BOLO from earlier he gave chase. The officer is a seasoned officer and was able to track down the subject using tire skids on the dirt road after Howes took off and was out of sight. Check out the video and watch as this seasoned officer gives a safe chase to this car thief, and any of his tricks to get away were eluded.
Howes was arrested and is currently being held on charges.
Pike County Sheriff Reader said, “I want to give a shout out to all my deputies and all other law enforcement who assisted tonight in the apprehension of this man after a short pursuit in a stolen vehicle. A very big shout out to the citizens that helped out as well. YOU GUYS ROCK. This guy is going to be in hotel Butler County for a while.”
