PICKAWAY – This week two Pickaway County Sheriff Corrections Officers and one Deputy Sheriff received Certificates of Commendation and one Corrections Officer received a Certificate of Merit from Sheriff Radcliff.

On January 14 Officer Jim Phillips, while making routine rounds found an inmate in his cell attempting suicide. Officer Phillips immediately called for assistance and then entered the cell and stopped the suicide attempt, with other officers there soon to assist.

Officer Phillips, a 28 year veteran of the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division received a Certificate of Merit. Deputy Casey Williams, Officer Nathan Welch, and Officer Charles Reed received Certificates of Commendation.

Sheriff Radcliff wants everyone to know that being a Corrections Officer is often the least recognized, but most important jobs in criminal Justice. “Without dedicated Officers like these, effective law enforcement would not be able to function”, Sheriff Radcliff stated.
