SOUTH BLOOMFIELD – New community establishment centered on a mission to provide the community with a wellspring of classes, programs and activities to support personal growth and well-being.

Before even opening The Place has released a Summer Camp Guide filled with a mix of different fun events for children to adults. Located at 5075 South Union Street, South Bloomfield, the Pickaway Place Community Open House is scheduled for Saturday, April 13 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Place is for people of all ages and abilities. All classes are fee-based and vary from adult wine and paint nights, to exercise classes and summer camp programs for youth. Many of the current offerings are Columbus-based organizations bringing their classes and programs to The Place. There are currently more than 15 evening/weekend classes offered for April and May; as well as at least two summer camp options for each week running from June 3 through August.
In addition to classes and camps, The Place is bringing programming not traditionally offered in the area, such as Columbus Children’s Theater summer camp and productions, CATCO is Kids theater classes and productions, murder mystery dinner nights and family adventures.
“We want to create a place to which people feel they belong. A place that offers something for everyone and can create growth for our community,” continued Miller. “There are a variety of classes and programming offered, but there is also space to grow new programs. We want people who have talents to share to have a place where they can teach dance, calligraphy, flower arranging – whatever their passion may be.”
With more than 9,000 square feet, The Place also offers event space rentals. The largest space is 3,000 square feet and includes tables, chairs, access to the kitchen and other perks available through the rental fee. There are a variety of small-use rooms available for rent as well, including a soundproof room for private music lessons, a pitching/batting cage, and small group discussion and/or work rooms.
“While we are opening with limited programming, we are going to scale our offerings rather quickly to include regularly-scheduled preschool-age play and socialize time, pitching machine and pitching area for young players, guided book clubs/discussions and treadmill/bikes for parent use while kids are in classes,” stated Miller. “We tried to think holistically about what parents need and want, what our youth needs and wants, and how we can grow our people and community, and we came to the conclusion that we need a place where we all belong.”
The Place is scheduled to open in early April. Class registration is available online now at www.PickawayPlace.com. To stay up-to-date on the classes and programs offered, follow Pickaway Place on Facebook and Instagram and create a family account on the Classes & Camps page of the website.
