The Pickaway County Board of Commissioners are pleased to announce they have been awarded $750,000 from the Ohio Development Services Agency Office of Community Development through the competitive Neighborhood Revitalization Program.

The State will award a total of $4.5 million in Community Development Block Grant funds to six applicants to complete six projects for the grant period from September 1, 2020 to August,
2022. This is the first Neighborhood Revitalization Grant that Pickaway County has ever received.

“The commissioner’s office has worked hard to be improve our processes for pursuing grants, and we are incredibly pleased to be one of the few successful applicants for this very competitive grant,” said Brian Stewart, Pickaway County Commissioner. “This money is going to fund very significant improvements in the Village of New Holland that will enhance the quality of life for all residents.”

While the county will pursue additional grant opportunities in the future to revitalize low-to-moderate income villages/places throughout the County, these grant funds are limited in where they can be spent, and as outlined in the submitted grant application, have been awarded by the State of Ohio specifically to address revitalization efforts in the Village of New Holland. The project will include street improvements, improved handicap access to the Village Hall, sidewalk improvements, park improvements, and the elimination of blighted housing through
demolition. The projected start date of the projects is summer of 2021.

“We greatly appreciate the efforts of the leadership in New Holland, and our partners at Community Development
Consultants of Ohio, for effectively working with us to win this important grant,” added Commissioner Stewart.
