NEW YORK – A 18-year-old was arrested after being caught with a unloaded semi-automatic rifle on Friday.

The Teen was at Times Square subway station, according to WCBS sitting with a semi-automatic rifle.

Police reported that  Saadiq Teague was sitting peacefully with the rifle in plain view when they approached him. He told officers he had a permit for the gun and was not aware it was illegal to open carry in New York, WCBS reported.

Police took him into custody with the incident, police reported that the gun was not loaded but he had a magazine loaded in his backpack with a gas mask he used for smoking marijuana.

Police charged him with criminal possession of a loaded firearm, criminal possession of an assault rifle, criminal possession of an ammunition clip and having drug paraphernalia.

Commissioner Shea made a statement that, “This story could’ve had a tragically different ending, but thanks to these diligent cops it ends with the suspect in handcuffs.”

In Ohio you don’t even need a permit to open carry a rifle. Laws are different state to state, before taking your guns to other states you can research laws around guns.
