Multiple SWAT Teams Seize Drugs and Guns from Search Warrant

SCIOTO – Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini and Interim Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer announce that a Portsmouth man has been arrested and drugs , guns, and cash were seized during three narcotics search warrants executed simultaneously on Monday, February, 3, 2020 at approximately 1:07p.m.
The Southern Ohio Drug Task Force assisted by Portsmouth P.D. SWAT, Chillicothe P.D. SWAT and additional law enforcement personnel from the Scioto Co. Sheriff’s Office, Portsmouth P.D., and the Scioto Co. Prosecutor’s Office executed search warrants at residences in Portsmouth located at 615 3rd St., 619 3rd St., and 2019 20th St.
During a search of the residences, officers seized approximately 343 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine a.k.a. ice, 10 grams of suspected cocaine, nine firearms, and approximately $15,877 cash. The suspected drugs seized had an estimated street value of $7800.
41 year old Samuel D. Holmes of the 615 3rd St. address was arrested on an indictment warrant that had been issued by the Scioto Co. Common Pleas Court after a case had been presented to a Scioto County Grand Jury by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Scioto Co. Prosecutor’s Office pertaining to the criminal offenses of Trafficking and Possession of Cocaine, felonies of the 2nd degree, and Tampering with Evidence, a felony of the 3rd degree.
Holmes was placed in the Scioto Co. Jail without bond and is waiting to be arraigned in Scioto Co. Common Pleas Court.
The case is continuing to be investigated by task force detectives and additional arrests are expected to be made.
