McCoy Receives 4 Years in Jail in Child Abuse Case for Kidnapping

CIRCLEVILLE – As per Common Pleas Court, Judge P. Randall Knece has sentenced Jason McCoy, 39, to 4 years in prison for the kidnapping of two children. He was found not guilty of felonious assault or child endangering in the September 25th court hearing, which centered around Martha Lemaster’s case of malnourishing and abusing two children. Lemaster had already received twenty-five years in prison for her role in the abuse.

During the case, the State of Ohio, represented by Prosecutor Judy Wolford and Assistant Prosecutor Heather M.J. Carter, called six witnesses. The first witness was a representative of Children’s Services who participated in the child abuse investigation. Two of the witnesses were minor children in the home who testified via a video link to the court. Another witness was a young adult in the home. The fourth and fifth witnesses were doctors from Children’s Hospital.

The defense, represented by Steven Larson. called one witness, Mr. McCoy, who testified on his own behalf.
