Chillicothe – On November 7, 2018, approximately 8:17 P.M., the Jackson Dispatch Center received a call that a pedestrian had been struck by a commercial motor vehicle on US 23 near Rozelle Creek Road. Troopers from the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to the scene and discovered a 2013, Peterbilt tractor-trailer combination vehicle, operated by William V. Tindall, 35, of Piketon, Ohio, was going south on US 23 near Rozelle Creek Road in the left lane.
A pedestrian, Travis J. White, 23, of Chillicothe, Ohio stepped into the path of Mr. Tindall’s vehicle from the median and was struck. Mr. White succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Ross County Coroner. Mr. Tindall was not injured. The Ohio Department of Transportation, Huntington Township Fire/EMS, Scioto Township Fire/EMS, and the Ross County Coroner were on scene.
The incident remains under investigation.
