Lucasville OH- Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini announces that his office received a call on Tuesday January 21, 2020 from Mikes Auto Sales stating that they came in and found some converters had been cut off of several vehicles. Deputies responded to this location and located two male subjects hiding in the area whom were detained without incident.
Captain John W. Murphy stated a detective was called out for a further investigation, Murphy stated that he has had detectives assigned working on the theft of converters that recently have been taking place in our communities. Murphy stated that after further investigation detectives were able to determine that a male subject driving a truck dropped the two suspects off so that they could go steal converters. When deputies arrived the other suspect fled the area but since has been identified. That will result in additional charges being filed. Detectives have information that the recent thefts of converters are connected. Information involving different suspects are being linked back to being sold to the same people.
Arrested was Timothy A. Long age 36 of 364 Back Street Lucasville, Ohio, long has been charged with theft a felony of the 5th degree, vandalism a felony of the 5th degree, criminal tools a felony of the 5th degree, breaking & entering a felony of the 5th degree, a bench warrant for driving under suspension and inducing panic. Long is being held in the Scioto County jail without bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Wednesday January 22, 2020.
Also arrested was Christopher Miller age 37 of Peebles, Ohio but currently staying at 364 Back Street Lucasville, Ohio, Miller has been charged with theft a felony of the 5th degree, criminal tools a felony of the 5th degree, vandalism a felony of the 5th degree, breaking & entering a felony of the 5th degree and served a warrant for driving under suspension and probation violation. Miller is currently being held without bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Wednesday January 22, 2020.
Captain John W. Murphy stated the quick arrest was the result of the detectives, deputies and the community working together to keep our neighborhoods safe and he encourages anyone with suspicious activity in their neighborhood to call in so that we can check into it as this office continues to help keep our neighborhoods safe.
