January 9, 2020
Deputies in Laurelville responded to a verbal domestic over custody issues. No violence occurred and no charges were filed.—–

January 13, 2020
Deputies received a report from Logan Police Department regarding a dog bite that occurred on East Hunter St. The bite did not break the skin, so no medical attention was sought. The owner confirmed the dog had vaccinations that were up to date and a valid dog license.—–

January 17, 2020
Deputies responded to a burglary complaint at a Heine Rd. residence. Deputies processed the scene for evidence and collected several items. The case was referred to the detective bureau and the case remains under investigation.—–

January 15, 2020
Deputies responded to a 911 hang up call at a Cook Rd. residence. While at the residence deputies were told an occupant of the residence had an outstanding warrant. Deputies returned to the residence, but the person had fled. Charges were forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office.—–

January 16, 2020
Deputies responded to a 911 call of a person with a gun forcing entry into a bedroom at a SR 374 residence. After investigation, deputies could not determine if a gun was mentioned or not, but did locate the gun in question. The gun was stolen from Fairfield County and taken as evidence. Permission to search was obtained by deputies who located suspected methamphetamine in the residence. Because of conditions of the residence and drugs being found, Hocking County Children’s Services were called to the scene. Deputies also noted that there no working smoke detectors in the residence that was being heated by the oven. Deputies contacted Good Hope Fire, who responded and installed smoke detectors and donated two safe heaters to the family. The drugs seized will be sent to the BCI crime lab for analysis and possible future indictment.—–

Deputies responded to the U.S. 33 Road Side Rest in Rockbridge for a theft complaint. Unknown persons had gained entry to a vending machine.—–

Deputies conducted a well-being check at a Carbon Hill-Buchtel Rd. residence at the request of Fairfield County Children’s Services. Everything appeared in order and CPS was notified.—–

Deputies responded to a SR 595 for a medical emergency. HCEMS transported.—–

Deputies responded to a Carbon Hill residence where an elderly person had been the victim of a scam and was sending money to an unknown person.—–

January 18, 2020
Deputies responded to a Homer St. residence for a domestic menacing complaint. After investigation, deputies requested a warrant for arrest be issued.—–

January 18, 2020
Deputies in Laurelville took a report of a stolen and forged check. The case was referred to the detective bureau and U.S. Postal Service Inspectors.—–

January 18, 2020
Deputies responded to a report of a missing juvenile who had left their residence. After investigation and a tip, deputies located the juvenile at a SR 93 business. The juvenile was released to a parent. Juvenile Probation was notified.—–

Deputies responded to a Tinker St. Murray City residence for a trespassing complaint. After investigation, it was determined by the property owner and residents were ok.—–

Deputies responded to a domestic argument at a Wagner Rd. residence. No violence occurred and no charges were filed at this time.—–

January 19, 2020
Deputies responded to a trespassing complaint at a Highland Park Dr. residence. After investigation, that matter was determined to be civil in nature and no action was taken.—–

Deputies responded to a O’Neal Rd. residence for a criminal trespass complaint. After investigation, the person voluntarily moved out. They were warned not to return.—–

January 20, 2020
Deputies responded to a Washington St. Rockbridge residence for a menacing complaint. After investigation, the case was forwarded at the request of the complainant to the Prosecutor’s Office in an attempt to secure a restraining order.—–

January 20, 2020
Deputies responded to a report of a female being held hostage on Davis Chapel Rd. After investigation, it was determined that she had not been held hostage and just wanted transportation back to Zanesville. She was transported to Zanesville by another resident.—–

Deputies responded to a domestic violence complaint at a Pike St. apartment. After investigation it was determined that no violence occurred and no charges were filed.—–

Deputies received a report of a domestic violence incident and took a report at the office. After investigation, deputies arrested Samuel Baker, 45, Nelsonville and charged him with menacing and domestic violence/threats. Baker was transported to the SEORJ.
