Hocking County Sheriff Lanny E. North reports:

June 16, 2020
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on U.S. 33 at SR 93 for a registration violation. K9 Dzeck conducted a free air search around the vehicle and indicated the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A subsequent search found a baggie containing a white crystal substance, multiple drug paraphernalia, $700 of counterfeit currency and debit and credit cards not belonging to any occupant. Steven T. Dye, 33, Nelsonville and Kody A. Mohney, 33, Nelsonville were taken into custody for outstanding warrants and transported to the SEORJ. Evidence will be submitted to the BCI crime lab. The case remains under investigation.

June 17, 2020
Deputies responded to a Carbon Hill-Buchtel Rd. residence for a weapon and menacing complaint. After investigation, deputies found that no weapon was present and vague threats possibly were made. The case was forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Deputies responded to a medical emergency at a SR 216 residence. HCEMS transported to HVCH for treatment and evaluation.

Deputies responded to a SR 664 residence for a possible overdose. When deputies arrived they found the person awake and alert. After questioning the person, deputies received permission to search the vehicle and found two items of drug paraphernalia. Levi R. Koch, 29, Logan is currently on Adult Parole Authority supervision. The APA was contacted who ordered him held for a violation. Koch was transported to the SEORJ.

Deputies responded to the Hocking County Fairgrounds after receiving a complaint of persons living at the Fairgrounds and using electricity. Deputies found a person there and warned them for criminal trespass.

Deputies responded to a Frasure Helber Rd. residence for a criminal mischief complaint. The complainant told deputies that they discovered that someone had put a caulking substance on their door handle of their vehicle. Deputies interviewed persons in the area and no one had seen anyone around the vehicle.

June 20, 2020
Deputies responded to a Highland Park Dr. residence. The complainant told deputies that they had lost their Apple Air Pods and had tracked them to a neighbor’s driveway. They had not contacted the neighbor due to a protection order. Deputies contacted the neighbors, who told deputies that had not seen the Air Pods.

Deputies investigated a single vehicle deer crash on SR 56. No injuries were reported.

Deputies investigated a crash at Dogwood Crossing 2 where a vehicle backing away from a gas pump, backed into another vehicle causing minor damage. No citations were issued being on private property.

Deputies responded along with Logan Fire to Lost Hollow Campground for a structure fire. Logan FD extinguished the fire. It is believed the fire started for an electrical issue.

Deputies responded to a Goose Creek Rd. residence for a domestic argument. No violence occurred and no charges were filed. Deputies transported one party to another residence for the evening.

June 21, 2020
Deputies responded to a Conrad Rd. residence for a domestic dispute. Deputies learned that a relative had been staying at the residence on occasion, but arrived intoxicated on drugs and was asked to leave. The relative became argumentative and the residents called for assistance. When deputies arrived the residents told deputies that the person had fled, but made threats to shoot the residence up. A request for charges and a warrant for forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office.

June 22, 2020
911 received an anonymous complaint of a wanted person at a SR 93 residence. The complainant told dispatchers that underage persons were also present and the wanted person was providing them with drugs. Deputies arrived and arrested Keanu A. Thompson, 19, Logan for an outstanding warrant and transported to the SEORJ. No underage person were found at the residence.

June 22, 2020
Deputies responded to a Rockstall Rd. residence for a criminal damaging complaint. The complainant told deputies that a neighbor was having a tree service cut a tree down on their property and had instructed the tree service to drive through his property to get to the tree. The neighbor denied telling the tree service to do this. The tree service said they were told to get to the property this way because the driveway had a locked cable across the driveway. The case was forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Deputies responded to a domestic dispute at a Keifel Rd. residence. One party had already left when deputies arrived. Deputies spoke with that party on the phone and agreed to stay away until things cooled off. No charges were filed.

Deputies responded to a Goose Creek Rd. residence for a burglary complaint. The complainant told deputies that the front window was broken and the rear door was pried open. The victim is to provide an inventory of the stolen items. The case remains under investigation.
