Hocking County Sheriff Seizes Stolen Cars, Firearms in Raid

HOCKING – On Monday, May 20th, the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office detectives, with the assistance of the Logan-Hocking Special Response Team, executed a search warrant on Maysville Greendale Road, Logan.

The search warrant was a result of an investigation into drug trafficking, firearm violations and stolen property complaints. During the search, investigators seized stolen firearms, stolen vehicles, suspected narcotics, and US Currency.

The owner, Steven Taulbee was arrested for Permitting drug abuse, a Felony of the 5th degree. Leslie Howard was arrested for Having Weapons Under Disability, a Felony of the 3rd degree. Joseph Fortner was arrested for Possession of Drugs, a Misdemeanor of the 1st degree.

On Wednesday, May 22nd, the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office detectives and the Logan-Hocking Special Response Team assisted the Perry County Sheriff’s Office in serving a search warrant on New England Hill Road, Shawnee, Ohio.

The suspect involved in the stolen property from the previous search warrant at Maysville Greendale Road, Christopher Thompson was arrested after barricading himself in the attic at the residence. Investigators recovered additional stolen items from the residence and nearby locations. These recovered items were linked to thefts that occurred in Hocking County and other jurisdictions.

The investigation is ongoing and other subjects are expected to be charged at the conclusion of the investigation.
