Hocking County Sheriff Reports for Week of December 6th

HOCKING – December 6, 2019
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Gore-Greendale Rd. for a traffic offense. Deputies observed indicators that led them to believe the vehicle and/or persons may have illegal drugs. A consent to search was given by the driver and although no drugs were found in the vehicle, both the driver and passenger possessed what is believed to be methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe, needles and plastic baggies. Both persons told deputies that they had recently used methamphetamine. The passenger, Trent Hogsett, 46, Logan is currently on supervision of the Adult Parole Authority and they requested that he be transported to the SEORJ. The drugs will be sent to the BCI crime lab for analysis and potential future indictment.—–

Deputies responded to a neighbor dispute at a SR 56 residence. After meeting with both parties the differences were sorted out and deputies cleared the scene.—–

Deputies responded to a Webb Rd. residence for a criminal damaging complaint. The case remains under investigation.—–

Deputies responded to an Old McArthur Rd. residence for a burglary complaint. The case remains under investigation.—–
December 9, 2019
A Home Rd. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a violation of a protection order. After the investigation, the case was referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for prosecution.—–

Deputies responded to a request for a well-being check by the Crisis Test Line (741) (741). Deputies made contact with the juvenile person and a parent. The parent will transport to Nationwide Children’s Hospital.—–

Deputies responded to an Ilesboro Rd. residence for a criminal trespass compliant. The victim told deputies that an unknown male entered their residence and told the victim they were there to meet someone. The person showed the victim a picture of whom they were to meet and the victim didn’t know them. A neighbor also reported a criminal trespass of a similar nature. The case remains under investigation.—–

Deputies responded to a SR 664 S business for an incident of telephone harassment. The case remains under investigation.—–

A Bauer Rd. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report an incident of a possible theft. The victim told deputies that they had mailed out payments to creditors who never received the payment. The victim told deputies that they had contacted the postal services who told them they had other incidents of this nature reported.—–

Deputies received a complaint of illegal dumping on Greasy Ridge Rd. Deputies located the site, located potential suspects and after a brief investigation ordered the responsible party to clean the site by 4:00 P.M.—–

Deputies responded to a Maysville-Greendale Rd. residence for an attempted theft of mail and criminal damaging complaint. The case remains under investigation.—–
December 10, 2019
Deputies were summoned to the Adult Parole Authority offices in the courthouse after a probationer was caught by parole officers attempting to use a fake urine sample for a drug screen. The probationer told deputies that they bought it at Cheap Tobacco in Lancaster. The case has been referred to the Prosecutor’s Office for review and potential indictment.—–
December 10, 2019
An Ellis Rd. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report an incident of identity theft. The victim told deputies that they had received a call telling them that their social security number had been used in several transactions and provided case number. The victim contacted Life Lock who told the victim they had been they had been scammed by confirming information. The victim was told to contact the three major credit reporting agencies and Federal Trade Commission.—–

Deputies responded to a breaking and entering complaint at a Rocky Boot Way business. The case remains under investigation.—–
