November 24, 2019
Deputies responded to a verbal domestic at a SR374 residence. No violence occurred and no charges were filed.—–
November 24, 2019
Deputies responded to a Bolander Rd. residence for a criminal damaging complaint. The victim told deputies that their mailbox had been damaged for the third time in the last week.—–
November 24, 2019
A cabin rental employee came to the Sheriff’s Office to drop off three firearms that had been left in a cabin rental by the previous occupants. The occupants were contacted and the firearms returned to the owner.—–
November 25, 2019
A Highland Park resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report an incident of identity theft. The victim told deputies that they had been alerted by a credit monitoring service that a utility company was seeking payment for an outstanding debt in another county in which the victim had never lived. The victim had discovered a person by the same name from another county may be using their identity. The case remains under investigation.—–

A Hocking County resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report an incident of telephone harassment and stalking. The case remains under investigation.—–
November 27, 2019
An employee of a pizza business in Nelsonville contacted HCSO for a counterfeit currency complaint. A driver was asked by an individual in Carbon Hill to make change for a $50 bill and when they returned to the business, discovered that the bill was counterfeit.—–

Deputies responded to a Hide-Away-Hills residence for a breaking and entering complaint. The victim told deputies that someone had entered an outbuilding and stole several items.—–

Deputies responded to a SR 93 residence for a domestic violence complaint. Deputies were told by an ex-spouse that the children, who are in the custody of the mother, had assaulted the children after finding narcotics and that the Sheriff’s Office was coming. Deputies arrived and after investigation took the mother, Jessica M. McClain, 34, New Straitsville, into custody for Domestic Violence, Assault and a warrant from Hocking County. She was transported to the SEORJ. The aunt, Kati L. Hedges, 33, New Straitsville was taken into custody for a warrant from Perry County. She was transferred to the custody of Perry County Sheriff’s Office. The children were released to the father.—–
November 27, 2019
Deputies investigated a two vehicle crash at the intersection of Pike St. and Shriner St. A vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed while turning from Pike St. to Shriner St. lost control and slide off the left side of the roadway striking a parked vehicle. The driver, Chase e. Payne was cited for failure to control.—–
November 28, 2019
Deputies responded to Shull Rd. after the resident saw a male trying to get into his parked vehicle at their residence. The resident attempted to stop the person, but the person fled. Deputies arrived to find the homeowner holding the person at gunpoint on the ground. Deputies took a juvenile male into custody. The juvenile was transported to the Juvenile Detention Center.—–

A Slipp Rd. resident brought a purse that they found while walking on Slipp Rd. to the Sheriff’s Office. The owner is a resident of Perry County and deputies contacted Perry County SO to attempt to locate the owner.—–

Deputies on patrol came across two Great Dane dogs running along U.S. 33 near 595. Deputies attempted to catch the dogs which continued to run. Deputies activated their emergency lights as the dogs were in the roadway. Deputies observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and was failing to slow. Deputies attempted to flag down the vehicle to get it to slow down, but it failed to do so, striking the dog and killing it. Deputies were able to catch the other dog. The driver of the vehicle, Kurt W. Smith, Lancaster was cited for Fictitious Tags and Approaching a Stationary Public Safety Vehicle while displaying emergency lights. The vehicles title and license plates were seized and the vehicle towed.—–
November 29, 2019
Deputies responded to a Todd Rd. residence for a burglary complaint. The victim told deputies that they left for a short time and when they returned someone had entered the residence and stole medication.—–

Deputies responded to the Park N’ Ride at SR 180 and U.S. 33 after a vehicles owner returned to pick up the vehicle they discovered that the catalytic converter was missing.—–
November 30, 2019
Deputies responded to a criminal damaging complaint at a Highland Park residence. The resident videoed their neighbor throwing a rock and striking their house. The neighbor had left prior to the deputy’s arrival for them to speak to him. Deputies will speak to the neighbor and file criminal damaging charges.—–

Deputies responded to Huston Rd. for a violation of a protection order. After investigation, deputies forwarded the case file to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.—–

Deputies received a complaint from a motorist of an impaired driver on Hocking Drive. Deputies located the vehicle on Front St. and observed several traffic violations. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver, Amy Jo Gregory, 35, Logan was believed to be under the influence. Deputies conducted field sobriety testing and found that Gregory was under the influence. Gregory was arrested for OVI and transported to the Sheriff’s Office for chemical testing. Gregory tested. .172 on the breathalyzer. Gregory was cited for OVI (high test) and Marked Lanes. Gregory was released to relatives.—–
November 30, 2019
Deputies responded to a Charles St. residence for a damaged mailbox. The complainant didn’t want a report taken, but the deputy did note that multiple mailbox’s in the area had been damaged.—–
December 1, 2019
Deputies responded to a 911 hang-up call at a Carbon Hill-Buchtel Rd. residence. The call was a medical emergency and deputies summoned HCEMS to respond. HCEMS transported to HVCH.—–
December 1, 2019
Deputies investigated a single vehicle crash on Sauerkraut Rd. The driver lost control of his vehicle, sliding off the left side of the roadway into the grass, corrected and came back onto the roadway where the vehicle partially rolled, coming to rest on the driver’s side. Dennis Six was cited for failure to control.
