November 1, 2020
Deputies took report of telecommunications harassment from a SR 374 resident. The complainant requested no action, but wanted the incident documented.
November 2, 2020
Deputies responded to a Locust St. Murray City residence for a theft complaint. The complainant showed deputies a video of their neighbor removing a package from the porch. The suspect, initially denied taking the package, but after being confronted with video evidence told deputies that they would pay for the package. The complainant did not wish the suspect to be charged and accepted payment.
November 2, 2020
Deputies responded to a Haydenville Rd. residence for a stolen ATV. The complainant told deputies that they had just purchased the ATV and it was stolen overnight. The ATV was entered into NCIC.
November 4, 2020
Deputies on patrol encountered a vehicle stopped on Goat Run-Honey Fork Rd. The driver told deputies that the vehicle had ran out of gas. The driver provided deputies with a title to the vehicle, but it was improperly completed by the previous owner. The driver had a suspended license. The vehicle was impounded to be released upon proper ownership documentation. The driver was provided a ride to Logan.

Deputies responded to a SR 664 residence for a death.

Deputies responded to an East Fork Rd. residence for a property line dispute. Deputies told both parties the issue is a civil issue to discuss with their own attorneys.

Deputies responded to a domestic violence complaint occurring in a moving vehicle on SR 180. Deputies located one party at SR 180 and SR 678. She told deputies that only arguing had taken place and did not wish any charges. Deputies provided her a ride.

Deputies responded to a Big Pine Rd. residence for a possible suspicious person. After searching the area nothing appeared disturbed or was anyone located.

Deputies responded to report of a domestic disturbance on Rockstull Rd. After locating the parties, one party, Steven A. Spears was found to have a protection order and was in the presence of the protected party. Spears was arrested for Violation of a Protection Order and transported to the SEORJ.

Deputies responded to a dog at large complaint on SR 664 at Big Pine Rd. Deputies were aware of the owners of the dogs, as they had received numerous warnings. Charges for dog a large and failure to register were sent to the Prosecutor’s Office.

Deputies responded to a Wandling Rd. residence for a theft complaint. The complainant told deputies that a bicycle had been stolen. Video of the incident showed a male, driving a black SUV exiting the vehicle and putting it into the vehicle and leaving.

Deputies received a complaint of criminal damaging that occurred at a Calico Ridge residence. The complainant told deputies that someone had put a substance into the water well requiring it to be cleaned and treated.

Deputies responded to a Carbon Hill-Buchtel Rd. residence for a menacing complaint. The complainant told deputies that a neighbor had made threatening comments on social media. Deputies spoke with both parties and told each other not to bother each other.

Deputies responded to a Prospect St. Carbon Hill residence for a criminal trespass and menacing complaint. After investigation, deputies forwarded the report to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Deputies responded to a burglary in progress complaint at a Frasure Helber Rd. residence. When deputies arrived the complainant told deputies that the suspect had fled out the rear of the residence. After a short search deputies located James V. Franco, 41, Nelsonville. Franco was charged with Burglary, F2, Drug Possession F5 and Drug Paraphernalia M4. Franco was transported to the SEORJ.
November 12, 2020
The Hocking County Sheriff’s Interdiction Unit located a 2016 Chevrolet dump truck reported stolen from the City of Columbus on Chieftain Drive near SR 664. Deputies attempted to stop the stolen truck at Chieftain Drive and U.S. 33, but the suspect fled. The suspect accelerated and began a pursuit that went onto U.S. 33, through various county roads in the Rockbridge area and eventually coming back in the City of Logan on Chieftain Drive. Once the suspect arrived near the Logan Conference Center, the suspect drove into the parking lot, down an embankment into a field, where he came to stop. The suspect fled into the woods, but was apprehended by deputies after a brief foot pursuit. Deputies were assisted by ODNR Officers and Logan Police. HCEMS responded and evaluated the suspect after he was apprehended.
Deputies arrested Ethan J. Fraunfelter, 29, Logan. Fraunfleter had several outstanding arrest warrants for Burglary, a Felony of the Second Degree, Failure to Appear, a Felony of the Fourth Degree and Theft, a Felony of the Fifth Degree. Additional charges of Receiving Stolen Property and Failure to Comply with the Order or Signal of a Peace Officer, both felonies, were submitted to the Prosecutor’s Office for review and presentation to the Hocking County Grand Jury at a later date. Fraunfelter was transported to the SEORJ to await his initial appearance in the Hocking County Common Pleas Court.
