December 12, 2020
A Voris Rd. resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to file a menacing report. The complainant told deputies that they had received a threatening message on social media.

A Cherry Crest Dr. resident reported to deputies that a package was stolen. The complainant told deputies that they had contacted Fed Ex and was told the package was delivered on November 27th, but the package was never received.

Deputies responded to a Logan Horns Mill Rd. residence for a theft complaint. The complainant told deputies that they discovered several items missing from the residence. The complainant supplied deputies with a potential suspect. The case remains under investigation.

Deputies responded to a Barker Lane residence for a person in crisis. HCEMS transported to HVCH for treatment and evaluation.

Deputeis responded to a Pike St. Laurelville residence after the complainant told deputies that they had received some disturbing messages on social media.

Deputies responded to a Murphy Rd. residence for a domestic violence complaint. After investigation, no charges were filed, but the case was forwarded to the Prosecutor’s Office for review.

December 15, 2020
Deputies responded to a Voris Rd. residence for a menacing complaint. The complainant told deputies that they had been threatened over an alleged theft.

Deputies responded to natural death at a Sowers Rd. residence.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Front St. for a registration violation. Deputies summoned K9 Tiger to the scene to conduct a free air sniff of the vehicle. Tiger alerted on the vehicle and in the subsequent search, deputies found drug paraphernalia, to include used syringes. Deputies seized those items and will submit them to the BCI crime lab for analysis and possible future charges pending the results.

Deputies responded to a SR 327 residence for a domestic violence complaint. After arriving deputies learned that no violence had occurred, only arguing. Deputies did learn that one party was in crisis and HCEMS transported to Adena Medical Center for treatment and evaluation.

A SR180 resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to report a stolen vehicle after they were contacted by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office. The complainant told deputies that the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office had found their vehicle burned in a field. They asked the complainant to file a report with the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office. The case remains under investigation.

December 13, 2020
Deputies responded to a Union Furnace residence for a person trespassing and being under the influence. The residents found an unknown person on their front porch and acting in an odd manner. Deputies found Kevin Carpenter, 32, Logan, and he was suspected to be under the influence of drugs. Carpenter was cited for disorderly conduct and released to a family member.

December 13, 2020
Deputies responded to a Purdum Rd. residence for an alleged suicidal person. After arriving deputies found that the person was not suicidal, but an argument had ensued. Deputies found that when the complainant had returned home both his live in girlfriend was present along with another woman he had been seeing. Both of the females were intoxicated and a family member of one of them came to the residence to remove them for the night. The complainant also reported several firearms missing and that remains under investigation.

Deputies responded to a Mowery-Lehman Rd. residence for an overdose. HCEMS transported to HVCH for treatment.

December 14, 2020
Deputies responded to a Buena Vista Rd. residence for a theft of a motor vehicle in progress. After arriving deputies discovered that the person suspected of trying to steal the vehicle in fact owned the vehicle and it had been taken by an ex-girlfriend some time ago and had been located at this residence. The complainant who initially called, claimed the vehicle belonged to their mother. The alleged suspect did have a valid title for the vehicle and it was released to them.

December 14, 2020
Deputies responded to a Hayden Place Apartment for a domestic argument. No violence occurred and no charges were filed.

December 15, 2020
A Carbon Hill resident came to the Sheriff’s Office to file a complaint of menacing. The complainant told deputies that neighbors have threatened them, yelled obscenities at them and threatened them with a pitchfork in the past. The complainant requested criminal charges. The file was forwarded to the prosecutor’s office for review.

A Laurelville resident contacted the Sheriff’s Office for their elderly parent. The complainant told deputies that someone had contacted their parent and told them that they were entitled to receive a large sum of money from Veteran’s Affairs, but would need their banking information and to send money to process the claim. The victim did provide some information, but hadn’t provided any money. The case remains under investigation and the Sheriff’s Office wants to remind citizens to never provide personal information or banking information to persons that contact them. Governmental agencies that provide benefits never require any payment to process claims. If citizens are contacted, you may call the Sheriff’s Office for advice and information.
