Governor Dewine Says Vaccinations will Begin in Nursing Homes in Ohio this Week

OHIO – Ohio’s most venerable will start to receive vaccinations against COVID-19 this week according to Governor Dewine.

Dewine said today during a press conference that he is pleased to announce that the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has invted Ohio to participate in a ealry scabed launch of COVID vaccination in the nursing homes across Ohio.

Vaccinations in these homes will start as early as Friday December 18th according to Dewine.

Dewine said that once the vaccine is widely available, this partnership with Cardinal Health OptiFreight will allow us to ship the vaccine to approximately 350 locations across the state.

Today the first vaccinations happened to first line workers in UC health, tomorrow eight other hospitals will receive vaccinations.

Mercy Health St. Vincent Hospital in Lucas County;

Cleveland Clinic in Cuyahoga County;

Metro Health Medical Center in Cuyahoga County

Mercy Health Springfield Regional Medical Center in Clark County;

OhioHealth Riverside Hospital in Franklin County;

Aultman Hospital in Stark County;

OhioHealth O’Bleness Hospital in Athens County; and

Genesis Hospital in Muskingum County
