OHIO – A fire department in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin is warning of hand sanitizer dangers while amid COVID-19 pandemic. The warning is if not properly stored the highly concentrated alcohol based mixture can ignite and cause a fire.

We warned you last year that a water bottle stored in a car can start a fire now on about the same basis hand sanitizer has the potential to do much worse because the chemical inside the bottle is flammable

By its nature, most hand sanitizer is alcohol-based and therefore flammable. Keeping it in your car during hot weather, exposing it to sun causing magnification of light through the bottle, and particularly being next to open flame while smoking in vehicles or grilling while enjoying this weekend can lead to disaster.
