COLUMBUS – The Columbus Destroyers are back, the arena football league closed its doors in 2008 after a 4 year run in arena football and are now announcing a return.

The team also named its head coach: former Utah State quarterback and longtime AFL coach Matthew Sauk.

There is no roster of players yet announced, but games are set to start in mid March.  12 games have been announced for the 2019 season. Games will be played at Nationwide Arena.

A statement from Ron Jaworski, the AFL chairman of the executive committee on the Columbus Destroyers webpage says,“This is a banner day for the Arena Football League, with the return of one of the League’s most attractive markets that has proven to be comprised of loyal fans.”
