COLUMBUS OHIO –

Almost half of all Columbia Gas customers should see a sizable reduction in their gas bill for January and February of 2019.

According to Dave Rau of Columbia Gas:

The February gas price for Standard Choice Offer customers will be 18 percent lower than last year. The Standard Choice Offer price is based on the market price for natural gas, which is lower than February 2018 and also down from this past December and January. This is the lowest February Standard Choice Offer price since 2016.

Customers paid $0.59 per hundred cubic feet of natural gas in December 2018, which may be higher and even shocking to some customers. However, according to information provided by Columbia gas, rates in January are expected to be $0.49 per hundred cubic feet in January (down 17%) and down further in February to $0.42 per hundred cubic feet in February (down 29% from December’s peak).
