Circleville Police Serve 117 Years Worth of Jail Time to Individuals that Commit Sex Crimes Against Children in 2019

CIRCLEVILLE – Circleville Police department helped convict numerous cases of various crimes against children in which criminals were sentenced to over 117 years in prison in 2019.


According to the Circleville Police Department they work with dozens of agencies to get this done, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office ICAC Task Force, The Ohio Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, Foundations4Youth, the Pickaway Human Trafficking Coalition, the Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force, the Child Rescue Coalition and the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children to keep children safe.

List of individuals that received time for sex crimes against children by Circleville Police.

  •  Matthew D. Griffith, 36, of 469 Half Avenue, Circleville, OH was charged with Attempted Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor. A plea of guilty was entered, and a sentence of 18 months in prison, register as Tier 2 sex offender for 25 years upon release from prison was issued.
  • Dan Jones, Judge P. Randall Kneece handed down a four year sentence in the Pickaway County Court of Common pleas against Dan C. Jones, age 48 regarding a 2018 case involving sexual battery of a minor.Jones, first indicted on December 7th 2018, was the subject of much discussion after being placed on administrative leave by Logan Elm High Schools in late 2017. The case eventually stemmed into six counts of sexually-related charges involving a minor. In May of 2019, Jones pled guilty to three counts of sexual battery involving a minor.
  • Daniel Haley  54 months  He was also fined 30,000 dollars and a lifetime sex offender registry. 

 

  • Aaron Flory Was Sentenced to 60 Months of jail time after distributing child pornography online. His home backed up to a middle school and elementary school in Franklin County. No picture was available at time of post.He was working as a outside cleaning contractor for Franklin County Court house at the time of his arrest.

 

  • Christopher Bartholomew, On Wednesday June 26, 2019, the honorable P. Randall Knece, Pickaway County Judge sentenced Christopher Bartholomew (26 of Circleville). Christopher Bartholomew was sentenced to 6 years in prison, 5 years post release control and must register as a Tier II sex offender for the next 25 years.
  • Shawn Wycuff on September 26,2018 37 year-old Shawn Alan Wycuff of Williamsport was charged with sexual imposition and given 30 days in jail, one year of intensive supervision probation and must register annually as a Tier I sex offender for the next 15 years. This was the maximum charge for this misdemeanor charge.

  • In Common Pleas Court in November, William P. Weaver (24) of Circleville pleaded not guilty to kidnapping and gross sexual imposition. Weaver has recently reversed that decision and entered into a Alford plea. A Alford plea is a guilty plea, similar to a no contest plea, but one that accepts conviction of the crime but asserts innocents, and claims evidence against the defendant would be too strong during trial and one would receive a longer sentence.Weaver has received a sentence of 15 years behind bars, he also has to register as a tier 3-sex offender for the rest of his natural life.  Weaver cannot live within 1000 feet of a school and anyone living within 1000 feet of him would be notified of his presence.
  • Eric T. Coyle, 26, of 208 Town Street, Circleville, OH was charged with Pandering Obscenity Involving a Minor (x 22). A plea of guilty was entered, and a pre-sentence investigation was ordered, no bond was issued. (Click the blue colored link for the story)
  • Adam York, a long prison sentence has been imposed for sex crimes and child porn charges. After a lengthy investigation, including Internet tips, Redding Police Department investigators determined that Adam York had committed sex crimes against 2 minors. He also had produced child pornography and possessed more than 600 images. On Friday, York was sentenced to 22 years in state prison on two counts of lewd or lascivious acts against 2 separate minors and possession of child pornography. In addition, York will have to register as a sex offender.
  • J’von Stapleton, the jury has convicted Jvon Stapleton of 41 of 42 counts of sex crimes against minors and Judge Kneece has sentenced Stapleton to 32 1/2 years plus 5 years community control after exiting prison.  Stapleton was convicted of 19 counts of Pandering Obscenity involving a minor, (18 months each F4), 19 counts of Illegal use of a minor in nudity oriented material, (18 months each F4), 3 counts Disseminating matter harmful of juvenile (F5 12 months).
  • One that was excluded from the count but wanted to mention was the work that was involved in arresting Matthew Bahr who committed suicide in Pickaway County Jail before full prosecution.Pickaway County: A call for medics to respond to the Pickaway county jail came out around 12:30A.M on September 30th for an inmate who had committed suicide by hanging.Officers found Matthew A. Bahr age 36 of Reynoldsburg unconscious and not breathing. CPR had been administered but was ultimately not successful. Sheriff Robert Radcliff of the Pickaway County Sheriff’s office said Monday that corrections officers had found Mr. Bahr during a routine check.

    Bahr was recently arrested and charged with sexual crimes against children, he was being held in Pickaway County Jail on charge of gross sexual imposition, and during arraignment a 500,000 dollar bond was issued. According to Circleville Police that more charges of sexual crimes were pending.
