Chillicothe OH- Robert & Evelyn Bowers Married for 71 Years Pass Away Just Four Days Apart

Chillicothe OH- Below are their obituaries which speaks of their marriage and amazing lives.

Evelyn M. (Ramsey) Bowers, 92, of Chillicothe, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 31, 2020.

     She was born March 1, 1928 in Chillicothe to the late William F. and Mary E. Ingham Ramsey. On December 24, 1949, she married Robert D. Bowers who survives. Also surviving are five children, Bob Bowers, Jr. of Chillicothe, Bill Bowers of Chillicothe, Sam (Lisa) Bowers of Corona, CA, Mark (Cindy) Bowers of La Verne, CA, and Philip Bowers of Chillicothe; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Gladys Shepherd and Betty Alexander of Chillicothe; sisters-in-law, Joan Casari of Chillicothe, June Straub of Chillicothe, and Rose (Jim) Murphy of Proctorville, brother-in-law Bernard Bowers of Cleveland; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers William, Harry, Donald, Francis, Harold, Herbert, and Lawrence Ramsey.

     Evelyn lived her life in service to others. She had a love for all children and spent many years teaching Sunday School and volunteering at her children’s school. She was a long-time member of Capistrano Valley Baptist Church in San Juan Capistrano, California and had been a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for the past 14 years. She was an avid prayer warrior and enjoyed being involved in her Sunday school class. Her love for her Lord and her family along with her strong character and giving spirit always shone through. Evelyn made a lasting impact on everyone she met and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

     “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. Her children rise up and call her blessed; Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all.” Proverbs 31:26, 28-29

     Public graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2021 in Greenlawn Cemetery with Gene Oliver officiating.  There will be no calling hours.  Arrangements are under the direction of the WARE FUNERAL HOME.

Robert D. Bowers Sr., 92, of Chillicothe, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 3, 2021.

     He was born November 22, 1928, in Chillicothe, to the late Earl and Sylvia McCorkle Bowers. On December 24, 1949, he married the former Evelyn Ramsey who preceded him in death just four days earlier on December 31, 2020. Also preceding him in death were a sister, Jean (Bowers) Dittman and brother, Earl Bowers.

      Surviving are five children, Bob Bowers, Jr. of Chillicothe; Bill Bowers of Chillicothe, Sam (Lisa) Bowers of Corona, CA; Mark (Cindy) Bowers of La Verne, CA; and Philip Bowers of Chillicothe; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters Joan Casari and June Straub of Chillicothe; Rose (Jim) Murphy of Proctorville; one brother, Bernard Bowers of Chillicothe; sisters-in-law Gladys Shepherd and Betty Alexander of Chillicothe; and several nieces and nephews.

     Bob lived a full and meaningful life. He loved to travel, be outdoors, and spend time with his family. After 30 years of distinguished service in the United States Air Force he retired at the highest enlisted ranking of Chief Master Sergeant. During those thirty years, he served three tours in Vietnam, was part of a Strategic Air Command during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and received many honors including the medal of Valor and bronze star. He was a member of the C7-A Caribou Association and enjoyed attending the reunions and reminiscing with fellow airmen for many years.

     After his military retirement he owned and operated “Bowers Furniture” in Capistrano Beach, CA. In 1986, he graduated from Newport University with his Doctor of Philosophy in Human Behavior with a focus in counseling psychology and began a private practice. He was a long-time member of Capistrano Valley Baptist Church in San Juan Capistrano, CA. For the past 14 years he attended Tabernacle Baptist Church in Chillicothe where he provided counseling services and enjoyed being a member of his Sunday school class.  He made an impact in the lives of many through his role as a husband, father, brother, grandfather, airman, counselor, and friend. He will be greatly missed.

     Public graveside will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, January, 7, 2021 in Greenlawn Cemetery with Gene Oliver officiating. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Ross County Honor Guard.  There will be no calling hours.  Arrangements by WARE FUNERAL HOME.
