Briget Elaine Foughty Thornton of South Bloomfield passed away February 2, 2018 peacefully at home with her husband of 26 years by her side after a short battle with cancer. Briget was born in Columbus on February 14, 1959 to David and Shirley (Stewart) Foughty. She was married to Keith Thornton for 26 years and was retired from Kroger Local 1059. Briget was a wonderful homemaker and deeply loved her family, music, bonfires and being with family and friends. She was loved by anyone who met her. She was preceded in death by her father David Foughty, brother Danny and sisters Cindy and Kim. Briget was survived by her mother Shirley Segner, of Jacksonville, NC, husband Keith Thornton of South Bloomfield, brothers Dale Foughty Sr.of Jacksonville NC, David and Christina Foughty Jr. of Ray, OH, Wayne and Etleva Foughty of Dade City FL, Bruce and Rhea Foughty of Columbus, sister Jackie and Ervin Parker of Jacksonville NC and by many nieces and nephews. Her wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of life will be held at a later date. She will be deeply missed by everyone and her best friend for 35 years Christina Foughty.
